Greetings:
Would you like to share your expertise in a specialized area of
acquisitions? Would you like to share something new and interesting that
you are trying? Are you interested in learning more about key issues in
acquisitions? If so, we'd like to invite you to contribute an article to
the "Biz of Acq" column in _Against the Grain_.
Discussions of the features of serials and acquisitions modules of
integrated library systems are of particular interest. Also, articles on
using technology to increase acquisitions efficiency are very desirable.
Other possible topics are:
--Selection issues in general
--Challenging materials
--Tools we use
--Vendor selection and relations
--Industry updates
--Buying techniques
--Ways to save
--Collection development and assessment
--Management issues
_Against the Grain, Linking Publishers, Vendors and Librarians_, is a
practice-orientated acquisitions journal, published six times per year.
Its goal is to provide acquisitions librarians in all types of
libraries, and information sellers, with current information on events
in the field, and practical insights into acquisitions techniques and
processes. The "Biz of Acq" column features discussions of key
acquisitions issues by working librarians. Further information on
_Against the Grain_ is available at: http://www.against-the-grain.com/.
