HEAD OF ACQUISITIONS (Assistant Manager/Supervisor II) Technical
Services,
The Getty Research Institute

The Getty Research Library seeks a Head of Acquisitions. This position
manages
the centralized acquisitions activities for all monographic material, in
all formats and
languages, including special collections materials. Ensures proper
fiscal oversight
and coordination between the library Voyager system and the Peoplesoft 8

accounting system. Monitors and evaluates performance of 18 approval
plan
vendors, including EDI and ftp of bib. Records. Evaluates current
acquisitions policies
and procedures and makes recommendation in response to changing
technology.
Participates in team management of Technical Services. Maintains
professional
awareness of issues and trends in the field.

QUALIFICATIONS:  ALA-accredited MLS degree and undergraduate degree in
art
history or related discipline, or demonstrated supervisory skills and
successful
experience in staff training; flexibility, imagination and ability to
communicate
effectively; 3-4 years professional experience in acquisitions in
progressively more
responsible positions; knowledge of AACR2 MARC, and RLIN or OCLC; 2-3
years
supervisory experience. Reading knowledge of 2 foreign languages and
experience
with Voyager system is preferred.
