The Jacob Burns Law Library seeks a librarian to lead its
Acquisitions Department. Responsibilities include supervising two
full-time support staff; overseeing the ordering, receiving, and
claiming of library materials and the payment of invoices; monitoring
the materials acquisitions budget; working with the university's
accounting system to pay invoices electronically; reconciling the
university's accounting with the library's automated system
accounting; ensuring the integrity of the automated library ordering
and receiving subsystem; working in cooperation with collection
development to facilitate acquisitions work flow; and developing and
implementing departmental policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS: MLS from an ALA-accredited institution;
minimum of three years of supervisory experience in technical
services, preferably in an academic setting; knowledge of the U.S.
and foreign publishing industry; experience handling legal materials;
experience with automated library systems, preferably
INNOVATIVE; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in
writing; possess a strong service orientation; ability to work well
independently and with others; self-starter. PREFERRED: Reading
knowledge of one language other than English.
