Print & Electronic Approval Plans in the 21st Century : A New Seal of
Approval
When: Monday, June 23, 2003

This program will explore managing existing approval plans as well as
emerging technologies that would allow librarians the ability to access an
Amazon-like tool for book selection at the pre-publication stage. The
"virtual approval shelf" may bring together such tools as ONIX, metadata
such as tables of contents, and linked information from integrated library
systems vendors. What would the resulting product look like, and will
librarians accept "book selection without books?"
