ALCTS President's Program: "Minding the Gap: Generational Issues in
Recruitment and the Work Place"
Monday, June 23, 2003
Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel
Dominion Ballroom
10:00 - noon
Would you like to know more about dealing with generational differences in
the workplace? Is it time to explore new ideas for recruiting and
retaining staff? Could you use some insights into understanding the needs
and interests of a multi-generational clientele? Then plan to attend the
2003 ALCTS President's Program in Toronto to explore generational issues
encountered by libraries. Keynote speaker Lynne Lancaster is the co-founder
of Bridgeworks, "a company dedicated to speaking, writing, and consulting
on generational issues in the workplace and the marketplace." Ms. Lancaster
is well known for her stimulating workshops for diverse organizations such
as Charles Schwab, Hallmark, and the Association for Women in
Communications.
Her well-researched, insightful and highly entertaining presentation will
examine what happens when the generations collide at work. Ms. Lancaster is
the author of "When Generations Collide" (2002 and 2003) written with her
business partner, David Stillman.
Librarians Jessica Albano (University of Washington) and Mary Chute
(Institute of Museum and Library Services) will offer additional insights
and personal experiences about working in a multi-generational organization
and recruiting the next generation of library professionals.
Please join ALCTS President Olivia Madison and your ALCTS colleagues to
learn what makes each of us tick - differently.
