Subject: New Grant Eligibility Requirements
A new announcement, with new eligibility requirements, for the
Coutts-Nijhoff Western European Studies Grant is now posted at the ACRL
Website: http://www.ala.org/acrl/nijhoff.html
At the ALA Midwinter the WESS Executive Committee
voted to change the eligibility requirements for the Coutts-Nijhoff
Grant, based on the recommendation of the Coutts-Nijhoff jury. This
change was ratified by the ACRL Board and is now in effect. The new
eligibility requirements are:
"The nominee must be a librarian employed in a university, college,
community college, or research library in the year prior to application
for the award."
The purpose of the change is to make the grant available to
newer as well as to seasoned librarians, and to extend eligibility to
librarians at research libraries in addition to those at college and
university libraries.
I hope that many will consider applying for the Coutts-Nijhoff
Grant in the coming years. It is a generous award which supports
research projects of "practical use" as well as those of "scholarly
value".
