Subject: Position Announcement

ACQUISITIONS LIBRARIAN:  McConnell Library, Radford University, Radford,
Virginia.  Responsible for serials and electronic resources acquisitions,
including handling license agreements, contracts, annual subscriptions and
trials.  Also responsible for oversight of monographic acquisitions, and
serve as primary vendor contact.  Participate in materials budget estimates,
fund allocations, monitoring expenditures, and fiscal closing, using the
Innopac/Millennium system and the University's accounting system.  Act as
team leader for positions related to acquisitions, binding, and serials
receipt.  Oversee maintenance of web-based periodicals list, new
acquisitions list, and database web links to electronic journals.  Maintain
acquisitions data, statistics, reports, and policies.  Contribute to
Technical Services planning and promote team-oriented approach.
Participate in collection development and provide leadership in serials and
electronic resources selection.  Twelve-month non-tenured professional
faculty position, which includes responsibilities for university service
and professional contributions.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Master's degree in library/information science from an ALA-
accredited program, expected by the time of appointment.  Experience in
acquisitions and/or serials, including budget planning, or other relevant
experience.  Knowledge of publishing industry, licensing, and contracting.
Ability to understand technical aspects of electronic resources.  Experience
using automated library systems, budget systems, and microcomputer
applications.  Strong interpersonal and communication skills.  Excellent
planning and organizational skills, initiative, and ability to thrive amidst
change.  Some familiarity with cataloging preferred.
