Johnson County Community College, located in suburban Kansas City, is the
largest community college in Kansas with over 17,000 credit students per
semester.  The Librarian position is one of six full-time professional
librarians at the JCCC library.  This position is responsible for
coordinating the acquisition, cataloging, and processing of all materials
selected for the library collection; maintaining the library catalog and for
assuring the delivery of other electronic resources over the library local
area network.  Supported by an annual acquisitions budget of $365,000, the
collection comprises 100,000 books, 4,500 audiovisual titles, 600 periodical
subscriptions, and a wide range of online resources.  The library uses the
Voyager library management system to manage its collection and bibliographic

Responsibilities

Coordinate the acquisition, cataloging, and processing of all materials
selected for the library collection.  Responsible for maintaining the
library catalog and for assuring the delivery of other electronic resources
over the library local area network.


Qualifications

Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution
required.  Experience using OCLC to perform original and copy cataloging
required.  Experience managing and maintaining a local area network
preferred.  Experience building microcomputer databases and spreadsheets
preferred.  Experience searching commercial electronic databases required.
Experience using automated library systems required.  Ability and
willingness to work independently within established policies and
procedures required.  Good interpersonal and communication skills
required.  Experience with reference work preferred. Ability to work
effectively with diverse college and community population required.
