Subject: Discussion Group Meeting Announcement -- Correction
The ALCTS AS Automated Acquisitions Discussion Group will be meeting on
Sunday, Jan 26 from 9:30-11:00 in the Philadelphia Marriott, Salon G.
We'll continue the discussions we've had in the last year on proposing a
MARC standard for Acquisitions data. The specific topic had to do with
migrating data that is not subject to rigid, MARC-like controls from one
integrated library system to another. Marilyn Geller (consultant to many
organizations) and Brian Green (EDITEUR) will help guide us in a discussion
about standards and standards setting, and help us determine the time and
sequence of steps necessary to create such a standard. The topic has raised
a lot of interest. It's time to move from interest to action. Come help us
move forward in this project.
