HEAD OF COLLECTION SERVICES
POSITION
Scarborough-Phillips Library seeks an energetic, service-oriented librarian
to provide leadership and management in all areas of collection services
including acquisitions, serials, and cataloging.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Plans, organizes, and manages the workflow for acquiring and describing the
library's print, electronic, and media resources. Keeps current regarding
standards, practices, and emerging technologies for bibliographic services
and their implications for workflow, effectiveness, and customer service at
SEU. Supervises support staff; maintains strong vendor relations; maximizes
use of technology and accurate data collection; manages collection analyses
and cancellations projects; provides reports; assists in leading collection
development efforts; participates in the library's bibliographic
instruction and reference activities which may involve evening and weekend
work. Reports to the library director and serves as a member of the library
faculty.
QUALIFICATIONS
ALA-accredited degree in library or information science; knowledge of
current standards and practices in acquisitions, cataloging, serials, and
integrated library systems; three years' experience in an academic library
in at least one of the areas of direct responsibility (acquisitions,
cataloging, serials); excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal,
and supervisory skills; ability to assess, develop, and implement
technology in the workplace; good math skills; strong customer service
orientation with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of publishing trade, including OP, electronic licensing, and
serials; accounting and budgeting experience; familiarity with SIRSI
preferred.
SALARY AND RANK
Commensurate with qualifications and experience. This is an eleven (11)
month faculty appointment at the Instructor or Assistant Professor level.
