Position Announcement

JOB TITLE: Electronic Resources Specialist/Government Publications
Librarian 

JOB CLASSIFICATION: Librarian (tenure-track faculty with rank dependent
upon experience and qualifications)

RELATIONSHIP: Responsible to the Director of Library Services

RESPONSIBILITIES: Works collaboratively with the Electronic Resources Team
to develop and manage the Library's extensive digital resources.
Specializes in digital government publications, including Web resources,
subscription databases, and digitization projects. Coordinates the public
service activities of a selective U.S. Federal Depository Government
Publications Collection (30%). Serves as the liaison to the Government
Printing Office. Provides general reference desk service, including
evenings and weekends in rotation, assisting users in obtaining
information. Serves on the Instructional Services Team and teaches
information literacy sessions. Serves as a collection development liaison
to academic department(s). Other duties as assigned. Opportunities for a
wide variety of activities and special projects in a highly automated,
electronic workplace.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: An ALA-accredited master's degree. Demonstrated
knowledge of electronic resources management, Web page development, and/or
federal government publications. Demonstrated ability to perform reference
work and provide instruction. Strong, service-oriented work ethic with a
friendly, open approach to library users. Effective interpersonal skills.
Excellent written and oral communications skills. Demonstrated ability to
show initiative, versatility, and flexibility in a work setting. Ability
to work independently as well as collaboratively as an effective team
member and/or leader. Capability and commitment to engage in scholarly
activities and continued professional development worthy of promotion and
tenure as a faculty member

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in government publications in an
academic depository library; reference and/or instruction experience in an
academic library; pre-professional experience is acceptable. Experience
with database management and web site development. Experience with
planning, managing, and evaluating major projects.
