Serials Acquisitions Librarian
The Otto G. Richter Library invites applications for the new position of
Serials Acquisitions Librarian who will be responsible for the coordination
of the acquisition of serial publications, standing orders and continuations
for the University of Miami Richter Library. Reporting to the Head of
Acquisitions, the incumbent shall supervise the 2.5 FTE members of the
Serials Acquisitions Unit, monitor and oversee the purchase of in excess of
$2 million worth of print serials. He/she shall also take a leadership role
in developing and establishing procedures to acquire and process serial
publications and coordinating processing with serials cataloging personnel,
select and monitor performance of vendors and establish expectations of
services provided, investigate new technologies and vendor services to
incorporate into existing procedures when beneficial and feasible, train
staff in the use of currently utilized or new software and databases,
coordinate the ordering of new subscriptions and standing orders as well as
cancellation projects. This person shall act as supervisor of the
Acquisitions Department in the absence of the head of the department.
Required qualifications: ALA-accredited MLS degree or equivalent; two or
more years academic library experience; supervisory experience; experience
working in acquisitions or serials areas in a professional capacity. Twelve-
month appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Tenure-
track or non-tenure options available. Salary commensurate with
