Position Vacancy
Title: Electronic Journals and Acquisitions Librarian
Description: Manages the ordering of materials in all formats, handles
single license agreements for electronic journals and other formats, and
coordinates the cataloging and processing of electronic journals.
Supervises five ordering staff, evaluates vendor performance, and analyzes
vendor, claim and open order reports. Coordinates access to electronic
journals by working closely with staff from serials cataloging, the
electronic resources committee, and collection and research services.
Reporting to the Manager of Acquisitions, this position provides assistance
in general department management, staff development and training, and
investigates ways to maximize the capabilities of the integrated library
system for acquisitions purchasing.
Qualifications: Required: ALA-accredited MLS, subject Master’s degree
required for tenure; acquisitions experience, including experience working
with vendors, automated acquisitions and bibliographic utilities; strong
interpersonal, training and problem-solving skills; ability to foster
teamwork among all levels of staff; demonstrated flexibility and attention
to detail; ability to work in a collaborative environment; strong service
orientation; excellent organizational and communication skills. Desirable
qualifications: experience in academic or large research libraries,
knowledge of developments in acquisitions and serials management, and
familiarity with negotiating contracts and licenses for electronic journals
with vendors and aggregators.
Salary/Benefits: Faculty status, attractive benefits package including five
