Eastern District Sales Manager
Blackwell's Book Services, an international bookseller with a history of
quality, stability and growth has an immediate opening for an Eastern
District Sales Manager. The successful candidate will possess 2+ years
of sales management or high-level supervisory sales experience, 8 years of
Library experience in book & journal trade with consistent record of
proven sales and a Bachelors degree or 6 years experience with an MLS.
Additional requirements include: experience in needs based/consultative
selling strategies and techniques; skills in motivating, coaching and
providing leadership; excellent oral and written communication skills,
ability to make presentations to large groups; ability to achieve 55-60%
travel requirement with the majority of trips being overnight; extensive
experience with computers. Must have a demonstrated ability to work
independently, meet quotas, establish and maintain professional
relationships, analyze, organize, prioritize, and manage expenses.
Duties include: Direct sales activities/travel with each direct report in
their respective territory with particular focus on providing key customer
account and presentation support to achieve designated sales goals.
Maintain a sales program (minimum of 160 library visits per annum).
Maintain contact with customers by phone, letter, email as customer
requires and to inform customers of services and products. Participate in
the establishment of sales targets and is accountable for meeting them for
the direct reports and for their own territory. Participates in fiscal
year budgeting and forecasting process. Recruits, develops and manages
performance of direct reports. Responsible for building team member's
skills and knowledge. Provides 1st level pricing negotiation for special
offers and bids and contracts. Keep informed of new and existing products,
enhancements, services, etc. offered by all companies within the Blackwell
group Establish monthly call with all direct reports to review customer
items, sales opportunities, strategies, market trends and RSM needs. Direct
team in the attendance of national and selected regional and state
conventions. Participates in and completion of assigned special projects and
other duties assigned by North American Sales Manager.
