POSITION: ACQUISITIONS LIBRARIAN
SALARY: $30,174 to $37,114 DOE, plus excellent fringe benefits.
QUALIFICATIONS:
ALA accredited MLS degree. Required: Knowledge of integrated library
systems; experience managing budgets; knowledge of electronic resources;
experience providing reference service, delivery of instruction, and/or
collection development; strong interpersonal skills; and the ability to
work cooperatively with library personnel. Demonstrated experience in a
supervisory role. Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Desired: One-year library experience. Ability to coordinate, manage and
follow through on projects. Demonstrated ability to solve complex
problems. Strong service orientation. Ability to work with patrons of
diverse backgrounds. Experience with spreadsheet and word processing
programs.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
Manages all aspects of the Academic Library Acquisitions Department,
according to standard academic library acquisitions policies and
procedures. Plans and manages the acquisition department workflow.
Develops and monitors the implementation and updating of the acquisitions
department goals and objectives. Interprets, modifies and updates
departmental policy and procedure manuals, in conjunction with the library
team. Hires, trains, supervises and evaluates part-time employees.
Participates in supervising the check-in process for government documents.
Confers with library staff on budget priorities and issues. Prepares
monthly budget and statistical reports using a spreadsheet program.
Regularly communicates the budget status with librarians and the Vice
President for Information Technology & Learning Resources.
Orders book and periodicals according to purchasing procedures.
Coordinates the acquisitions workflow with the cataloging librarian and
cataloging staff. Oversees the input of on-order records into the SIRSI
integrated library system. Monitors on-order records for removal following
receipt and cataloging of library materials.
Coordinates the library’s budgeting and purchasing activities with Arizona
Western College and NAU in Yuma business office personnel. Oversees the
input of requisitions and other purchasing documentation on the Datatel and
Advantage financial systems.
Oversees the inventory of library property. Anticipates library supply
needs
and orders supplies, as appropriate. Coordinates the preparation and
dissemination of the annual discard report.
Acts as key liaison to facilities and maintenance personnel.
Other duties as assigned.
