ACQUISITIONS LIBRARIAN
College of the Holy Cross
Worcester, MA

Reporting to the Head of Acquisitions and Cataloging, 
will be responsible for the management of non-periodical 
collection development activities of the college library 
system, including electronic resources.  Monitor the subject
development of the collection, perform collection analysis
and work with library liaisons and faculty to maintain a 
balanced collection, order and receive materials using the 
DRA Acquisitions module and other vendor ordering software.
Develop policies and procedures, solve complex ordering 
situations, maintain quality control, develop business 
relationships with vendors and supervise Acquisition 
Assistants.  Will be involved in the selection and 
implementation of new acquisitions software and be aware of
how it interfaces with the rest of the library modules.  
Recommend workflow changes to create more efficiency, 
train acquisitions staff on software and hardware upgrades 
and monitor acquisitions budget.   

QUALIFICATIONS 

Master's degree from ALA accredited library school required
with an additional Master's degree desirable.  One-three 
years professional collection development/acquisitions 
experience in an academic library required.  Familiarity 
with OCLC, DRA, and vendor specific library systems, MARC 
formats, LCSH, and AACR2(national standards).  Supervisory 
experience, strong interpersonal skills, good oral and 
written skills, experience with the WWW, Excel, Access and 
web authoring as well as the book trade or publishing 
industry required.  Working knowledge of at least one 
modern foreign language.
