"Patron Focused Services: Models of Collaborative Interlibrary Loan,
Collection Development, and Acquisitions"
Sunday, June 16, 2002 1:30-3:30
Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC) A313
Instead of filling patrons' requests for recently published books through
Interlibrary Loan, what happens when a library instead rapidly acquires the
books, lends them to patrons, and adds them to the collection?
Librarians from two academic libraries and one public library present three
models of collaboration between Interlibrary Loan and Collection
Development/Acquisitions. The discussion includes project implementation,
selection criteria, funding models, and patron feedback. A highlight is a
summary of the in-depth analysis that one academic library's subject
bibliographers completed on the titles acquired through the on-demand book
purchasing project.
