The Changing Landscape for Acquisitions Administrators: Enhanced or
Diminished Roles?

Please join the ALCTS Acquisitions Administrators Discussion Group as we
discuss The Changing Landscape for Acquisitions Administrators: Enhanced or
Diminished Roles? The meeting will take place from 10:30-12:30 A.M. on
Saturday, June 15, 2002 at the Westin Peachtree Plaza Atlanta Ballroom E.

We plan to discuss trends in library reorganization and the changing roles
of acquisitions librarian, such as the role of acquisitions in budget
planning and monitoring. Are acquisitions librarians being merged into
other units (e.g. collection development, technical services, etc.) or are
they being replaced by aggregators? What role should acquisitions librarians
play in purchasing electronic resources, large microform sets, rare books,
etc.?

Because this is a discussion group, we expect to have a very lively forum.
Please plan to attend the  ALCTS Acquisitions Librarians / Vendors of
Library Materials Discussion Group just preceding at 8:30-10:15 A.M. The
topic will be "The Changing Vendor / Library Landscape."
