ELECTRONIC BOOKS – ARE THERE TRICKS TO THE TRADE YET?

WHAT: ALCTS PRE-ORDER PRE-CATALOG DISCUSSION GROUP
WHEN: Saturday, June 15, 9:30-11:00
WHERE: Hilton Atlanta, Adams Room

Question: Can e-book ordering be handled routinely like normal print book
ordering? Both libraries and book vendors are dealing with unknown factors
for ordering and distributing electronic books. Nancy Gibbs, from Duke
University, and Matt Nauman, from Blackwells Book Services, will lead a
discussion about how distributing electronic books is changing the vendor's
processes as well as the ordering processes in libraries. Areas for
discussion include workflow, appropriate staffing levels, and staff
training required by both libraries and book vendors. This promises to be
a lively discussion, so bring your questions and share your experiences.
