Subject: NASIG announcements
For all you NASIG 2002 conference attendees, below are some announcements
for your enjoyment and edifiction. Now pay close attention.
-- As if you did not have enough to do, what with plenaries, workshops,
tours, concurrents, screaming your heart out at Busch Gardens, doing the
Fun Run/Walk, and keeping the late nite socials going 'til all hours. Now
we have something else to offer you. For the first time at a NASIG
conference, you can get involved with Serials al fresco. This will give
you the chance to get together with like-minded people to discuss, expound,
or complain about an issue about which you really care--not the dorms, food,
or weather. You can post a notice of your Serials al fresco session on the
Conference message board in the University Center for others to find out
about. You can get your affinity together during one of the meal times,
at one of the breaks, late at night, or early in the morning. We cannot
supply you with any a-v or guarantee a room. This is all very informal,
and you meet under a shady tree, at a bar, reserve a table at mealtime, or
use one of the dorm common areas. Go forth and have fun with it.
-- To whet your appetite for the array of interesting poster sessions that
we have for you on Friday afternoon, the list of sessions is on the
Conference web site at http://www.nasig.org/wm/program.htm#posters. The
site gives you the name of the poster session, the presenter(s) and an
abstract. Enjoy.
-- Part of the equipment that you will be issued at this year's conference
is a rather attractive envelope containing your registration materials.
In an effort to reduce costs, there will not be a conference tote bag this
year. So, if you want something to lug your stuff around in, bring a tote
from a past conference, and if you are inclined to share, bring one for a
friend.
-- Be prepared to be parted with any George Washingtons that you have in
your wallet while you are at the conference. We have some really cool
t-shirts to offer you as well as some rather fine souvenirs. Do your bit
for the economy and get some neat stuff while you are at it.
See you in June.
