The ALCTS Out-of-Print Discussion Group presents:
"There's Gold in Your Basement: Libraries selling Their Unwanted books
on the Internet"
The Internet has opened up a whole new world for the out of print
market. Librarians have known for years about the benefits of
purchasing out of print books on the web and now they can profit from
selling their discards, deaccessioned and unwanted books too.
Three librarians will tell you how they have been able to increase the
value of their discards by selling their books on the internet.
Howard Bybee from Brigham Young University, Pat Hilker from California
Lutheran and Tim McAdam from University of California Irvine will relate
their methods for evaluating and selling books for much more than they
could get at booksales.
Come and join the discussion 8:30-11:00 Monday January 21 at the
Intercontinental Hotel, Pontalba Room in New Orleans.
