Technical Services Librarian

The University of Montevallo, Alabama's public liberal arts university,
seeks qualified applicants for the position of Technical Services 
Librarian in Carmichael Library.

Responsibilities:  provides leadership to the Technical Services unit, 
which includes cataloging, acquisitions, and serials.  Monitors and 
analyzes vendor performance with outsourced services.  Maintains the 
library's bibliographic database, including authority control, holdings, 
and hyperlink information.  Monitors licensing agreements for electronic 
resources.  Participates in reference and public services, which involves 
some evening and weekend hours.

Required Qualifications:  MLS from an ALA-accredited library school.

Desired Qualifications:  Experience in an academic library in at least one
technical services area.  Knowledge of MARC formats, metadata standards, 
LC classification, and LCSH.  Experience with OCLC or other bibliographic
utility and with an integrated library system.  Ability to work 
collegially in a rapidly changing environment.  Evidence of a user-
centered perspective. 

This is a full-time, 12-month position leading to tenure, with appointment
at the rank of Assistant Professor.  Salary range is mid-thirties with an
excellent benefits package.
