if you're still interested in Oregon...

Here is some additional information about the position listed above:
Although the title is Technical Services Assistant, this position is
THE acquisitions support person at Eugene Public Library. Each of the
library's fourteen librarians has selection responsibility for a portion of
the collection. The acquisitions position is more like that of a purchasing
agent. There is some clerical help, and volunteers help with unpacking and
bar-coding shipments.
This is an exciting time to work at Eugene Public Library --
*The library will move into a new building in about 18 months.
*In July 2001 the library will begin purchasing materials for this
bigger facility.
*In October 1999, the library migrated to Gaylord's Polaris
automation system. This is a unique opportunity to work with a brand new
system, developing new acquisitions-cataloging procedures to take advantage
of this software's capabilities.
Your (potential) co-workers in Technical Services are a congenial,
service oriented team.
Eugene is a very interesting place to live, home of the University
of Oregon, an hour from the Pacific Ocean, an hour from the Cascade
Mountains, and two hours from the city of Portland, or the Oregon
Shakespearean Festival (in the opposite direction).
