Subject: ALA Program Announcement
This message is being posted on several lists. Please excuse the
duplication.
The ALCTS, Serials Section, Acquisitions Committee and the ALCTS, Serials
Section, Education Committee are pleased to present the following program
at ALA Annual Conference 2001.
"WHAT SHOULD YOUR SERIALS MANAGEMENT SYSTEM DO FOR YOU?"
Location: Hilton Hotel and Towers, Yosemite Ballroom C
Date and Time: Saturday, June 16, 2001, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Serials management systems often cannot efficiently manage all processes.
This can result in libraries having to develop workarounds to meet their
management needs. This program will feature three speakers who will
discuss the current status of serials management systems; how to evaluate
and select systems; how to make the vendor enhancement process more
effective; and what features the ideal serials management system of the
future should include. Specific systems will not be discussed, but rather
common features and needs will be addressed.
Speakers:
Pamela Bluh
Associate Director for Technical Services and Administration, University of
Maryland School of Law, Thurgood Marshall Law Library
Marc Truitt
Head, Library Systems Department, University Libraries, University of Notre
Dame
Bob Boissy
Manager, Standards and Interface Services, Faxon
