Potomac Technical Processing Librarians (PTPL) 2001 Meeting
Library/Vendor Partnerships for 21st Century Libraries
Call for Papers

The Advisory Council of the Potomac Technical Processing Librarians (PTPL)
invites interested persons to submit proposals for papers to be given at
the 77th annual meeting of the association on Oct. 5, 2001 at the Library
of Virginia in Richmond. PTPL, a regional affiliate of ALCTS, serves
Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia.

Libraries are facing new challenges to maintain existing services, while
expanding into new areas. Technical services librarians have sometimes
turned to vendor services to supplement existing staff, expand or create
new services and gain expertise not available in-house. Vendors are
seeking to expand into new markets as some traditional areas are
shrinking. Creative partnerships between libraries and vendors can move
beyond the traditional services.

PTPL requests proposals for presentations on the theme of Library/Vendor
Partnerships for 21st Century Libraries. Presentations may cover areas
such as cataloging, authority control, acquisitions, licensing, serials
and preservation.

Please include the following:

* Name, address, institution and title.
* E-mail address, and telephone number of the presenter(s)
* Title of presentation
* Abstract (not to exceed 200 words)
* Equipment needs
* Total time required (including time for questions)

Proposals should be submitted by May 1, 2001 to:

email: bcon_at_loc.gov
