Library Services Coordinator (Collection Development)
The Wichita Public Library has an opening for a self-motivated, energetic
and resourceful librarian to serve as Coordinator of Collection
Development.
The position oversees collection development throughout the library system
Central Library and eleven branches) including selection, acquisitions,
cataloging and physical processing activities and supervises the library’s
information technology and electronic resources support staff.
Responsibilities include planning, coordinating and analyzing service
delivery with particular emphasis on enhancing the quality of library
collections, streamlining acquisition of materials, and improving
responsiveness to customer requests and service as a Librarian-in-Charge
and as a member of the Administrative Council. Participation in system
projects and teams is expected. The position reports to the Director of
Libraries.
Requires MLS from an ALA accredited institution plus five years
professional experience including three years experience in library
administration or supervision of professional library staff or any
equivalent combination of experience and training. Also requires a
comprehensive knowledge of library materials in all formats including
electronic resources, excellent communication and interpersonal skills,
experience in strategic planning, a strong customer service orientation
and skill in team leadership. Residency within thirty minutes legal driving
time of the corporate limits of the City of Wichita will be required of the
successful applicant.
Salary range: $42,827 - $59,954. Offers of employment will be contingent
upon passing a pre-employment drug screening and satisfactory evaluation of
a police records check.
